Sitting in a park

This entry was made as I sat in a park and observed some of the activities and people around me. It is so hot that people tend to gravitate to parks to sit under a tree and cool down. To my right is a young Latino couple who are engaged in friendly chatter - and lots of smiles! To my left is a guy who is juggling with 3 balls. He is successful but every now and then the balls crash to the ground, one, then the others. In front of me is a young and very athletic looking couple, who are lying on the grass, shoes off, basking in the gentle evening sunshine. It is 6.20pm!!

Basking in the evening sun

What a cute baby ?
A little further, some young teenagers are playfighting and having a lover's tug of war. Beyond them, two young guys sit on the grass and share a big bottle of beer between them. There are also some parents playing with their children or babies on the grass. A group of musicians is sitting in a circle and playing their musical instruments. Some dog owners are entertaining their dogs with a ball, in a game of catch. Behind me, three teenage girls have just sat down with a huge bag of assorted sweets between them. I wish they would offer me one. The sweets look mouthwatering. Further on there is a group of people practising their Capoeira moves. A group of young boys lie basking in the sun, with their shirts off. And a cluster of teenagers lie with their necks or backs propped up against each other.

Teenagers in love

I sense that there is "life" in parks. People come to enjoy the outdoors and the company of other people in parks. A great feeling, in a city which sometimes feels too frenetic to notice "life".
